my journal of 18 days (compressed version)
18th November-5th December
______San Jaroen Village______
things we did in the village, school and other village (:
1) dig a trench about 1 by 2 meters, about 1.5 metres deep
2) carry manymanymanytmany pails of sand, gravel, mixed cement
3) carried HEAVY pails filled with sand about 200 metres, downhill and UPHILL
4) carried HEAVY big bamboo , walking 10 mins each time from the bamboo place to the place of construction on muddy, horrible ground....
5) paint the tank
6) teach students english, played with them7) cook food for food festival (WHICH WAS A DISASTER, well, i think so la... cooked bak kut teh, rojak, greenbean soup, some sausage dish)
7) put up fashion show.... wAHAHAH... i wore TKG uniform!!! complete with the white school shoes, school socks, nametag and badge! yeah!!
we cannot all be heroes...
note: events 1 to 4 were carried out wearing black boots, which caused many people blue blacks on the big toe... PS, now that my left big toenail has grown out, it looks as if my right big toenail is ready to go.
Interesting things!:
1) we have rice every meal; breakfast lunch dinner
2) no electricity, rely on candles and torches
3) I realised that i had been sleeping on a spider... which was quite big and UGLYLY SCARY... waHHHH.... then i happened to see another spider slightly bigger than the size of my palm, (including the legs)
4) while i was packing on the 2nd last day in the village, a fire broke out in my house!! me and dingwen were the first to notice.. and we helped to put out the fire!! hehe.... interesting... my ah ma ran out of the bathroom in her sarong when she heard me shout... bath halfway.. wahaha!!! realised later that if it got bigger i'd be the only one to die since i was the only one in the house (the bathroom's a seperate building)
